University of Kerala, formerly the University of Travancore, is a state-run public university located in Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital of Kerala, India. It was established in 1937. It was ranked 42nd in India overall by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2020 and 23rd among universities. The university has over 150 affiliated colleges and has sixteen faculties and 43 Departments of teaching and research. Kerala University is offering various UG, PG, and Doctoral programs in the fields of Arts, Science, Management, Law, Communication, etc. Kerala University has an enrollment of over 84000 students including its affiliated colleges and it caters to more than 7000 students through its school of distance education. There are three major campuses of Kerala University such as Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Kozhikode. The campus architecture often reflects a blend of traditional and modern designs, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region. The university's main campus features well-maintained classrooms, lecture halls, and auditoriums equipped with modern teaching aids to facilitate effective learning. Notably, the International Stadium, spread over 50 acres of land owned by the University of Kerala at Kariavattom and facing National Highway-47, hosted the 35th National Games. The observatory facilitates Science/Humanities/Engineering graduates and post graduate students to do their project works. The students from IISER and IIST use the centre for documentation of historical scientific endeavours carried out by the institute. The sky watch programmes for students, teachers and the public in the evenings is being conducted on all working days and serves as a public outreach and extension activity of the Department of Physics. The University has finished installing High Speed Wireless Networking in both the Kariavattom and Senate House Campuses. This has facilitated the completion of the e-governance programme being implemented in the University. Both the campuses are networked in an effective manner taking into account the future developments in the field of technology and communication, thus providing maximum benefits not only to the employees but also the stake holders and the students. The placement drive at Kerala University is a structured initiative managed by its placement cell.
