The School of Open Learning, formerly known as The School of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education, was founded under the University of Delhi in 1962 and is a pioneering institution in the field of distance education in India. It is a component of the Campus of Open Learning.
When the School opened its doors to 900 students in 1962, the nation saw the birth of an alternative form of education. More than two lakh students attended the school for the 2006–2007 academic year. Our students have frequently placed first in a variety of fields. The University of Delhi's standards are followed in the admission procedure for the School's various courses. The University of Delhi also administers the test.
As it does in the cases of its other constituent institutions, the University of Delhi awards the degree to the School's pupils. The School of Open Learning and the other constituent institutions and Departments of the University of Delhi follow the same academic curriculum. With the academic year 1990–1991 beginning, the School constructed the South Study Center in Moti Bagh in an effort to meet the demands of an increasing number of students. The school is in the process of opening Study Centers in the Eastern and Western parts of Delhi's National Capital Region in an effort to reach out to more students.
The school provides undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the fields of commerce and the arts/humanities. The primary teaching medium is well-written, printed course material that is sent to every enrolled student via mail. Additionally, there is a Personal Contact Program offered to students at several study centers established by the school as a supplement to this. At the main campus, a knowledgeable faculty member is constantly available to students for academic interaction.
For students who require a flexible medium of instruction to get higher education and occupational skills, the school provides learning via remote education as a feasible alternative. Additionally, the school keeps a well-stocked library to enable widespread exposure to modern advancements in the course streams offered. The school also maintains a South Study Center in New Delhi's South Moti Bagh. At the main campus, a well-appointed faculty is always ready for academic contact with students.
