The history of ULC dates back to 1948 when it was established as the Government Law College (GLC). In 1964, GLC became part of the Faculty of Law of Bangalore University and was renamed University Law College. ULC made a significant contribution to legal education by introducing the pioneering five-year B.A.L, LL.B integrated degree program in 1986-87, becoming the first institution in India to do so.
