Established in 1970 as a grant-in-aid institution, it operates as a Marathi medium, co-educational college affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The establishment of the college was driven by the vision of Padmabhushan Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, who believed that every village should have a school with trained teachers. To realize this vision, the college was founded under the management of the sanstha. Additionally, it serves as a center for the Master of Arts (Education) and Diploma in School Management (D.S.M.) programs offered by Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) in Nashik. It is also a center for the two-year B.Ed. program through distance and open learning offered by Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) in New Delhi.
