The National Council for Teacher Education (N.C.T.E.) has recognised St. Xavier's Institute of Education (Autonomous), the oldest government-aided, Christian minority teacher education college for the B.Ed. and Ph.D. programmes, which is affiliated with the University of Mumbai. Course from St. Xavier's College in 1955, and until the University discontinued it in 1977, it was the only college associated with Bombay University that offered it.The full-time, two-year B.Ed degree programme.
