St Thomas' College is one of the most prestigious institutions located in the heart of Kerala. Founded in 1889 by Rt. Rev. Adolphus Edwin Medlicottiid, the Vicar Apostolic of Thrissur, the college has been acting as an educational hub for many students. It received its formal affiliation with University of Madras in April 1919. It is also accredited by NAAC ’A’ Grade. The college is autonomous since 2014. The institute comprises 17 departments, 4 PG programmes 23 UG programmes and 10 research centers.
The college has a student centric approach of education and administration. Currently, the college offers multiple programmes on undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels along with the diploma programmes and certificate courses in departments of science, arts, commerce, vocational programmes, media studies, social work, physical education etc. 71 different skill based value-added courses are offered by the college.
The courses are extensively taught to sculpt the future industry professionals in the right shape. The college has a well-educated faculty base with years of experience in the field of education and research. The teachers are known to be in immediate contact with the students whenever required. They not only motivate the students to reach their true potential but also take care of their well being at the campus and helps in creating a secure learning environment.
The curriculum has been carefully designed with all the theoretical and practical concepts required in the field of science, arts, commerce and other fields of study. The course curriculum is structured in a way that enables the students to get prepared for the industry with a clear understanding of its standards and internal functioning. It is technically used by the educators to equip the students with relevant information from start to the end.
The college is equipped with neat and clean classrooms with latest technology to enhance the learning environment, laboratories with state of the art technology and equipment, state of the art infrastructure, research cell, a differently abled friendly campus with required facilities including ramps, wheelchairs, computer screen reader software etc. sport facilities and a multipurpose playground and a fully-stocked huge library with around 1 lakh books.
The college offers cultural events, festival celebrations, college fests, activities, and several competitions throughout the year to the students. This allows them to release the academic pressure and take the much needed relax from time to time. They are encouraged to take part in these activities to aid their holistic development.
