St. Joseph's College of Education for Women began its journey as the first institution of its kind in Andhra Pradesh on July 1, 1946, with a modest enrolment of only 12 students. Its primary purpose was to provide training to women graduates and post-graduates from all walks of life, irrespective of their religious background, with a particular emphasis on the Christian community. The college, which offers B.Ed. and M.Ed. programs, is affiliated with Nagarjuna University in Nagarjuna Nagar, Guntur. Furthermore, the D.Ed. programme is a member of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college owes its foundation to the visionary leadership of Rev. Sr. Stanislaus Swamikannu Pillai, who served as the first Principal, and Mother Angelina, the first Correspondent. Sr. Stanislaus, with her exceptional administrative skills, foresight, and unwavering dedication, played a pivotal role in establishing the college on a strong foundation. Following her, Rev. Sr. Anna Maria, a meticulous perfectionist, tirelessly worked towards expanding the institution. The contribution of Rev. Sr. Theresalina, as a principal, has also been noteworthy and impactful. St. Joseph's College of Education for Women's vision includes several goals. First and foremost, it aims to uphold and maintain excellence in education.
