Shri Chitragupt Post Graduate College, located in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, is a renowned educational institution that has been making significant contributions to the field of higher education since its establishment in 1960. Founded by the late Shri Brajeshwar Sahay Pradhan M. Ale, the college began its journey under the visionary leadership of Mr. Sarju Prasad Bhatnagar, the founding principal, and received immense support from influential personalities like Mr. Raghuveer Sahay Bhatnagar. Affiliated to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University Agra, Shri Chitragupt PG College has earned a reputation for academic excellence and has been recognized as an 'A' grade college by the Uttar Pradesh Government. Furthermore, the college has been placed in the special category (B) by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), a testament to its commitment to quality education. Over the years, the college has expanded its academic offerings to cater to diverse disciplines. It initially began with undergraduate courses in the Faculty of Arts in 1961, and later in 1971, postgraduate classes in the same faculty were introduced. In 1990, the college added graduate-level programs in the Faculty of Science, and in 1996, it introduced B.Com. classes under the self-financed scheme. Under the able management committee, led by Mr. Brijmohan Saxena as the chairman and Mr. Om Prakash Saxena 'Omi' as the secretary, Shri Chitragupt PG College has made remarkable progress. The college's main building, situated near the railway crossing on Etawah road, houses the office and library. Additionally, the college has a new building located in Old Mainpuri, near Madar Darwaza, equipped with modern facilities to support the educational needs of students. The science classes, in particular, prioritize the interests of female students. Shri Chitragupt PG College boasts well-equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment, ensuring a conducive environment for postgraduate-level research and practical learning. Ambedkar University, to which Shri Chitragupt PG College is affiliated, has a rich history dating back to 1927. Initially known as Agra University, it was renamed in 1996 to honor the esteemed Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. The university has expanded its faculties over the years, offering courses in arts, sciences, commerce, law, medicine, agriculture, home science, basic sciences, fine arts, and management. With approximately 200 affiliated colleges and 15 residential institutes, the university caters to the educational needs of seven districts in Agra Division.
