NIFT Bhubaneswar, the National Institute of Fashion Technology, is a prestigious institution that specializes in fashion design, technology, and management education. It was established in the year 2010 and initially operated from a temporary campus located in Jatni, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. However, with the aim of providing a permanent and state-of-the-art facility, the institute was later shifted to its current location near KIIT University. The permanent campus was formally inaugurated on 31st March 2012 by the former Minister of Textiles, Shri Anand Sharma, and the Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Pattnaik, along with other esteemed dignitaries. The present campus of NIFT Bhubaneswar is the result of collaborative efforts between the institute and the Government of Odisha. The government extended its support by providing 10 acres of land for the construction of the campus. Additionally, a generous financial assistance of Rs 58.6 crores was granted to facilitate the development of the infrastructure and resources necessary for the smooth functioning of the institute. NIFT Bhubaneswar has shown its commitment to promoting local talent by implementing a reservation policy. As a part of this initiative, the institute has promised a 20% reservation of seats for candidates who are domiciled in Odisha. This step not only ensures that deserving students from the state have a fair chance of admission but also contributes to the overall development of the region's fashion industry. The campus itself is designed to provide an ideal learning environment for students pursuing various courses at NIFT Bhubaneswar. It houses well-equipped classrooms, design studios, computer labs, a resource center, and specialized workshops for different aspects of fashion education. The infrastructure is complemented by a team of experienced faculty members who bring their industry expertise into the classroom, enabling students to gain practical knowledge and stay updated with the latest trends in the fashion world.
