Manonmaniam Sundaranar University is an Indian public university located in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. On September 7, 1990, it became a separate entity from Madurai Kamaraj University. It is Named after the renowned Tamil Poet scholar, Professor P. Sundaram Pillai (1855-1897), the author of the famous verse drama Manonmaniam. Its main campus is a 520 acres (2.1 km2) site in Abishekapatti, Tirunelveli where the majority of the university departments function.
