Shikshan Prasarak Mandal holds a prominent position among educational institutions in Maharashtra. It was established in 1948 by Sahakar Maharshi Shankarra Narayanrao Mohite-Patil, a visionary leader. The organization's journey began with the establishment of a hostel on 11th June 1948, accommodating merely six students. Soon after, on 23rd June 1948, the official formation of Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Akluj took place, with a resolute motto, "Tew Sada Dnyanamaya Pradeep," which translates to "Let the lamp of knowledge burn forever." The institution took its initial steps towards education by opening its first school on 1st March 1949. Although modest in scale, with approximately one hundred students and classes ranging from fifth to tenth grade, the school marked the commencement of a remarkable journey. Presently, under the able guidance of esteemed patrons such as Hon. Vijaysinh Shankarrao Mohite Patil, President Hon. Jayasinh Mohite Patil, and Vice-President Hon. Changojirao Deshmukh, the institution continues to progress. Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Akluj has garnered a well-deserved reputation for delivering quality education throughout Maharashtra. It operates 70 educational branches encompassing various levels, including pre-primary, primary, secondary, higher secondary schools, arts, science, and commerce colleges, D. Pharmacy and B. Pharmacy colleges, D.Ed and B.Ed colleges, a home science college, and an agricultural college, among others. Today, the institution serves a student population of over 32,000, supported by a dedicated team of more than 1200 teaching and non-teaching staff members.
