With its prime location near renowned national institutes such as the Indian Institute of Science and the Raman Research Institute, mLAC draws inspiration and sets high standards on academic and scientific fronts. Established in 1972, mLAC was the answer to the persistent demand for an exclusive women's college in North Bangalore.
The college campus is well-connected and features departments spread across three floors, each equipped with ICT-enabled classrooms and laboratories. These well-designed spaces boast ergonomically crafted furniture, state-of-the-art equipment, and ample lighting and ventilation, providing students and teachers with a conducive environment for learning. The college derives its name from Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni, a historical figure renowned for rejuvenating the Wodeyar dynasty of Mysore. As the Regent Queen of Mysore from 1799 to 1810, she showcased exceptional crisis-management skills, nation-building capabilities, and remarkable human qualities. Inspired by her legacy, mLAC strives to provide holistic education that addresses the intellectual, physical, emotional, and personal needs of its students. The institution's motto, "Sheelam Parama Bhushanam," emphasizes the importance of character as the highest virtue.
The mLAC logo features three sky-facing arrows representing a peer group that competes and motivates each other to reach greater heights. It symbolizes the synergy of strengths and collaboration among resources, processes, vision, students, faculty, and industry stakeholders. The colors red, yellow, and blue within the logo embody energy, strength, power, determination, freshness, happiness, optimism, confidence, intelligence, truth, trust, and loyalty. Guided by this emblem, mLAC aims to transform young girls into confident women who contribute positively to society, the nation, and the world at large.
From its humble beginnings with just 12 students and a government school building as its workspace, mLAC has grown steadily over the past three decades. Currently, the college caters to over 3,500 students, offering academically sound, practically relevant, and value-based education. mLAC's superior facilities, dedicated faculty, and dynamic approach in meeting the evolving expectations of students and employers have positioned it as a distinguished institution in higher education in Karnataka. It has become a preferred destination for young women preparing to face the challenges of the 21st century. Notably, the college is also renowned for its discipline and effective handling of students transitioning into adulthood.
