IIT Indore and IIT Mandi, two premier technical institutions of India, were established in 2009. IIT Indore, also known as IITI, is located in Madhya Pradesh and is one of the eight new IITs set up by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The institute began functioning from a temporary campus at the Institute of Engineering and Technology of Devi Ahilya University under the mentorship of IIT Bombay. However, in February 2016, IIT Indore shifted to its permanent campus spread over 501.42-acre (2.1 km2) in Simrol, about 25 km from Indore city. The foundation of the permanent campus of IIT Indore was laid by Shri Arjun Singh, the Union HRD minister, on 17th February 2009. The academic office is responsible for all the academic affairs of the students, with a Dean of Academic Affairs, two Associate Deans (Academic), an Administrative Officer, a Manager, and three Deputy Managers, along with some contractual employees. IIT Indore has been constantly striving to achieve excellence in research and education. The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various disciplines, including engineering, basic sciences, and humanities and social sciences.
