Government Polytechnic, Khutri, situated in the picturesque landscape just 20 kilometers away from Bokaro steel City, is a renowned institution operating under the esteemed Department of Science & Technology, Government of Jharkhand. The honorable Chief Minister of Bihar, Sri Bindeswari Dubey, inaugurated the institute on 2nd April 1986. Initially, it began its journey in a rented building in Janamore, Bokaro. However, thanks to the World Bank project, a dedicated building for the institute was completed in 1997. Consequently, in July of the same year, the institute proudly shifted to its own premises. It is worth mentioning that the institute operates solely on funds provided by the state government.
Strategically located on the Bokaro-Patna national highway, merely 7 kilometers away from B.S City Railway Station, Government Polytechnic, Khutri, finds itself in the heart of Bokaro's industrial hub. Notable industries such as Steel Authority of India Limited, La-Opala, Year Glass, Borosil, Maruti Udyog, Mahindra, among others, rely on this institution to supply them with skilled human resources.
Over the past four decades, the institute has successfully produced over 8,000 diploma engineers across various disciplines. Their accomplishments extend beyond academics, with numerous accolades earned in socio-cultural activities. To ensure convenience for students, the institute provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls. It offers three diploma courses, namely:
