Established in 1909 as the Government Technical School, this educational institution underwent a transformation in 1958 when it was renamed Government Polytechnic Gorakhpur. Throughout its history, the institution has witnessed the launch and initiation of several prominent institutions and organizations within its campus, including Baba Raghav Das Medical College, Gorakhpur, Madan Mohan Malviya Engineering College, Gorakhpur, Doordarshan Kendra Gorakhpur, MMIT Hariharpur, Gorakhpur, MMIT Maharajganj, and Govt. Polytechnic Puraina, Maharajganj. To this day, one of the buildings on the campus is known as Malviya Block, serving as a reminder of the institution's rich heritage.
