Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital, and Research Centre were founded in 1996 as a result of Dr. P. D. Patil's visionary goals as Chancellor of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth in Pimpri, Pune. His ambition was to build one of the best institutions in Maharashtra and the country, complete with a world-class college, hospital, and research centre. Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital, and Research Centre was founded thanks to his tireless work and the blessings of the late Dr. D. Y. Patil, former Governor of Bihar and Tripura. The institution is a vital component of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, which is an NAAC re-accredited (3rd Cycle) Vidyapeeth with a CGPA of 3.64 on a four-point scale, earning it the coveted 'A++' Grade. The Vidyapeeth is also ISO 9001:2015 certified as a 'Deemed to be University.' The Government of India conferred the prestigious status of a university on Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital, and Research Centre under the terms of Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
