Chembur Education Society, established on June 13th, 1946, holds a significant position in the field of education. It is a registered society under the Societies Registration Act and the Bombay Public Trust Act. Since its inception, the society has been dedicated to establishing educational institutions and has played a vital role in providing education to the underprivileged, impoverished, and ignorant sections of society. The society's commitment to the upliftment of these marginalized groups has greatly contributed to the overall development of education. In 2015, the society celebrated its Diamond Jubilee, marking a significant milestone in its history. The Governor of Maharashtra at the time, Shri Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao, commended the management of Chembur Education Society for their noteworthy contributions to the field of education. He acknowledged the society's potential to further enhance the quality of education with its sensitivity and commitment. The vision of Chembur Education Society is rooted in the belief that knowledge should be shared and that teachers are lifelong learners. They aim to produce teachers who possess a strong sense of purpose and practicality, enabling them to become catalysts for change in the future. The mission of the society revolves around creating a center of academic excellence among teacher training institutions. They strive to empower teachers and teacher trainees with life skills and value education, equipping them to cater to the needs of diverse classrooms. The society also provides opportunities for teacher trainees to broaden their experiences through various scholastic and non-scholastic activities. They aim to raise awareness among teacher trainees about local and global issues and foster critical thinking abilities. Moreover, their objective is to inspire a lifelong passion for learning among both teacher trainees and teacher educators. The institution has been offering the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program since 1970. In 2006, a self-financing division was introduced alongside the grant-in-aid division. The medium of instruction in the self-financing division is English, while the grant-in-aid division conducts classes in Marathi. The grant-in-aid division is permanently affiliated with the University of Mumbai, whereas the self-financing division requires continuous affiliation from the same university. Both sections are recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Until the academic year 2014-2015, the B.Ed. the program had a duration of one year. However, starting from 2015-2016, the course duration was extended to two years and four semesters. The NCTE granted permission for a basic unit of 50 students in both sections of the institution.
