Bharathidasan University established in February 1982 located in Tamil Nadu, India was named after the great revolutionary Tamil Poet, Bharathidasan. It has been re-accredited in the III cycle with an 'A+' grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and ranked 41 among Indian universities in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023. The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) of Bharathidasan University (BDU) was established in the year 1992 to serve the students who could not enter the regular colleges for higher education. As the educational programmes offered and the degrees awarded through distance mode are on par with the regular mode, qualitatively there is a demand for the programmes offered by the CDE of Bharathidasan University. The Center for Distance Education provides a variety of educational programs, including around 60 different options. These include 12 undergraduate programs, 21 postgraduate programs, 6 diploma and certificate programs, and 7 professional programs like MCA and MBA. Apart from the usual courses, the Center for Distance Education also offers programs in subjects like Computer Science, Information Technology, E-Commerce, Bank Management, Financial Management, Library and Information Science, and Animation. These programs are designed to give practical skills and are carefully planned, similar to regular programs. Classes, both theory and practical, are held on Saturdays and Sundays to suit people's schedules. The Center's staff and Director regularly check the progress of these programs by visiting the centers where the Personal Contact Program is held. This makes sure that the programs are going well and meeting the students' needs. Online courses offer a range of salient features that cater to modern learners' diverse needs. These courses provide the advantage of individualized study, granting students the freedom to learn at their own pace, from any location, and within a timeframe that suits them.
