The renowned B. K. Birla College of Arts, Science, and Commerce (Autonomous), which is situated in Kalyan, offers programmes in several academic fields. The college is famous for its multi-faculty approach and has an exceptional enrolment of over 12,800 students, including 8,400+ in undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programmes as well as 4,400+ in the junior college. The Kalyan Citizens' Education Society, which is affiliated with the prestigious University of Mumbai (UoM), founded the institution in 1972 with the backing and blessing of Pujya Shri B. K. Birla ji and Pujya Smt. Sarala ji Birla.
The institution offers a wide range of academic programmes, including 9 Ph.D. programmes, 30 undergraduate courses, and 31 postgraduate courses. The college also offers specialised courses like the A-DMLT and the PG Diploma in Bio-Nanotechnology. The University Grants Commission (UGC) sanctioned a Community College for the Diploma in Accounting and Taxation in 2015–16 in acknowledgment of the college's dedication to academic achievement.
The renowned B.K. Birla Public School is part of the College's 20 acres of land, which is spread across an important region of Kalyan City. The institution has developed a number of eco-friendly behaviours with a goal of creating a greener campus, including the use of energy-saving equipment, trash reduction strategies, rainwater harvesting, and the promotion of a plastic-free environment. The university has 55 classrooms in total, all of which have ICT facilities. One of these classrooms is a cutting-edge 3D studio, and 50% of the total number of classrooms are smart classrooms.
The college's chairman and faculty members have kindly funded 25 new bicycles for eligible students as part of the school year's noteworthy green programme. This initiative not only encourages environmentally friendly mobility but also makes it easier for those in need.
Students perform very well in extracurricular activities like NCC, NSS, sports, etc. The College NCC Units have won the Vice Chancellor's award for being the best NCC Unit of UoM 12 times out of 20 occasions. The Republic Day Camp, Thal Sainik Camp, and All India Nau Sainik Camp are common stops for our cadets.
