Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute (ADAC&RI) is a renowned institution that is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. Established in 1989 in Kumulur, Lalgudi Taluk of Trichirappalli district, the college initially had an annual intake of 40 students. However, in 1992, the college was relocated to Navalur Kuttapattu, Srirangam Taluk of Trichirappalli District, specifically on the premises of the former Soil Salinity Research Centre. The college has a clear mission of providing an exemplary learning environment and academic activities that transform students into experts in agricultural technology, research processes, technology transfer, and agripreneurship. It aims to deliver innovative solutions to short-term and long-term agricultural issues in the region through research, extension services, and entrepreneurship. Occupying a vast area of 30 hectares, ADAC&RI offers programs through five departments: Agronomy, Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Plant Protection, and Social Sciences. The undergraduate program offered by the college is B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, while postgraduate programs are available in Agronomy, Soil Science, Genetics and Plant Breeding, and Entomology. The college has a dedicated team of 51 faculty members who are highly qualified and experienced in their respective fields. Additionally, there are three lab assistants, 18 technicians, and 26 skilled mazdoors who provide support for administrative, teaching, research, and extension activities. ADAC&RI also houses the Centre of Excellence on Soil Health, which focuses on studying and improving soil conditions to enhance agricultural productivity. The Farm Women Knowledge Centre is another significant initiative undertaken by the college to empower women in the field of agriculture and provide them with training and knowledge to excel in farming practices.
