All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna

AIIMS Patna is one of the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMSs) which are autonomous public medical colleges of higher education. It was established to serve as institutions of national importance by an Act of Parliament under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). AIIMS Patna is located in Phulwari Sharif, a region in the Patna district of Bihar, India. AIIMS Patna was officially inaugurated in 2012. It was set up with the objective of correcting regional imbalances in the availability of affordable and reliable tertiary healthcare services and to produce high-quality health professionals for the country. AIIMS Patna offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in medicine, nursing, and related areas. The MBBS program is one of its flagship courses. The building blocks of any Institute are its faculty members. A successful recruitment drive was conducted to enhance the resources of the Institute and 58 new faculty members were selected in the interview conducted in New Delhi with a special focus on Super-speciality subjects. Along with the new recruitments, many faculty members also got promoted through Assessment & Promotion Scheme. A drive to recruit Group B staff for which an All India Basis competitive exam was conducted by the Institute to select the most deserving candidates. The results of this exam were declared and the process of joining is underway. Institutions' academics achieved a major milestone by starting many MCh/DM courses in different surgical and medical disciplines this year. The research output increased tremendously that serves the purpose of establishing such research institutions of National importance. The campus is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, modern classrooms, libraries, research facilities, hostels for students, and residential facilities for faculty and staff. As with all AIIMS institutions, AIIMS Patna is not just a center for medical education but also a hub for advanced medical research. The institute encourages innovation and the application of the latest technologies in medical practices. Being a part of the AIIMS group, AIIMS Patna carries a strong reputation for excellence in medical education and patient care. Its graduates are sought after for advanced medical roles and research positions. Several community outreach programs in the form of medical camps, operative camps (Lifeline Express), and training programs for health workers have now become an integral part of the institute. The 8th Foundation Day of the institute was celebrated in which Honourable Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Ashwini Choubey was the Chief Guest. The overarching objective of AIIMS Patna, like other AIIMS institutions, is to create a benchmark in medical education, produce top-tier medical professionals, offer the best patient care, and promote research and innovation in the medical field.
