82 lakh teachers transferred for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan

Under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Program, the government sanctioned 82 Lakh teachers' posts to various states and union territories.

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is implemented as a centrally sponsored scheme (2000-01) in partnership with the state government and UT administration for elementary education across the country. SSA provides a variety of interventions including opening new schools, and classrooms,  drinking water provision for teachers and students providing textbooks and improving teaching standards, and providing regular training for teachers who are newly recruited training will be provided for untrained teachers for professional qualifications.

The center sanctioned for Rs 6,300 crore project for teachers to develop skills regarding the latest education system. National Council of Teacher Education permits all the state governments for training whereas  5 lakh teachers will trained in a distant mode. A total number of 82,479 school teachers applied for transfer in Chennai for the recent academic year 2024 -2025 through the  Education Management Information System (EMIS) as mentioned by the school education department.


The application is more than 18,000  for intra-district transfer and the application for graduate teachers is around 25,000 for secondary education. The state government recruitment will conduct a redeployment process for the existing teachers and provide a balanced ratio of teachers under the Right to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act,2009. The teacher's salary accounts for 67 percent under AWP&D approval amounting to Rs 42,432 crore for 82 lakh teachers. The post  of teachers laid down under the SSA program
