Guru Nanak Dev University - Online Courses

Guru Nanak Dev University was established at Amritsar on November 24, 1969 to mark the 500th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. GNDU is among Top Ten “High Performing State Public Universities” across India by MHRD. University Grants Commission has granted “Category One” status to Guru Nanak Dev University, the only university to get this elite status in the region of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh. It has also been conferred with the status of “University with Potential for Excellence” by UGC. took a significant step in the year 2018-19 by establishing the Directorate of Open & Distance Learning (ODL) within its main campus. With the vision was to make education accessible to everyone while enabling skill development, higher education, and career growth. To support the learning process, students are provided with comprehensive Self-Learning Materials (SLMs). These learning materials are available both in electronic format on the Directorate's website and in printed form. Additionally, a dedicated web platform has been developed to streamline the entire academic journey, encompassing everything from application and admission procedures to fee payments, access to digital content, submission of assignments, issuance of roll numbers, result declarations, and even online processes for re-evaluation and transcript requests. In addition to these online resources, the Directorate organizes Personal Contact Program (PCP) classes during weekends. These sessions are led by experienced and dedicated faculty members and are held at the main campus of GNDU. These PCP classes offer supplementary benefits and academic advancements to the students. Library facilities are also made available to the students. All the courses under Open & Distance Learning mode are offered in Semester System and follow the CBES (Credit Based Evaluation System) scheme. While distance education programs don't have the same on-campus networking events, they can still provide virtual networking opportunities. Webinars, online seminars, and discussion forums can connect students with professionals and experts in their field.
