In partnership with the Piramal family and the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development (OICSD), Somerville College is pleased to announce the opening of the Dr. Gita Piramal Scholarship. With the help of this full scholarship, Indian students will get the opportunity to attend the University of Oxford and further their study. At some.ox.ac.uk/the-oicsd/scholarships/dr-gita-piramal-scholarship, candidates can review the requirements for eligibility and application information.
The purpose of this scholarship is to honor Dr. Gita Piramal, a business historian from India, and acknowledge her important contributions to both corporate leadership and academia. Dr. Piramal has been a Senior Associate Fellow and mentor to numerous people at Somerville College for a considerable amount of time. Future business leaders' perspectives have been influenced by her groundbreaking work on corporate India, which includes books that are essential reading for MBA programs around the globe, according to a statement released in this regard.
The statement claims that the Dr. Gita Piramal Scholarship, which provides full tuition and a living stipend, aspires to uplift the best Indian brains. During its first five years, this scholarship, which is intended for students from low-income families, would enhance India's intellectual capital and support the nation's long-term development.
"India is my family home, and Somerville has been my intellectual home for many years," Dr. Piramal said in reference to the collaboration. With the help of this scholarship, brilliant young Indian minds will be able to take advantage of Oxford's thriving academic community, advancing India's future.
The OICSD has helped more than 60 Indian students at Oxford since its founding in 2013, and many of them have gone back to India to address issues in technology, healthcare, and climate change. The Dr. Gita Piramal Scholarship enhances this goal by guaranteeing that Indian students from disadvantaged families can receive top-notch instruction and help with both domestic and international issues.
