Schools in Haryana to be closed today and tomorrow due to state elections.

On the occasion of state elections, the Haryana Government has announced the closure of all government and private schools today, October 4 and October 5 ,2024. Since many schools will be used as polling stations. The decision is taken in consideration to ensure smooth conduction of exams.

For having enough time which is required for preparations, schools will be closed a day before voting meaning today and a day after on the day of voting. The district administrations have issued written orders to confirm the holiday in affected areas. The closure of schools is step to make sure the Haryana Assembly elections is set for October 5,2024. And the schools will be closed on October 4,2024 to facilitate the setup of ballot boxes, voting equipment and security arrangement.

Moreover, the Directorate of Education, Haryana has justified that examinations which were scheduled for October 4, have now been postponed to October 9.
On October 5, the voters are expected to exercise their right to vote. The results for the state elections are scheduled to be announced on October 8.

With a total of 90 assembly constituencies going to the polls in a single phase on October 5, voter participation is expected to be high. There are approximately 2.1 crore registered voters in Haryana, including about 9.5 lakh women and 4.52 lakh first-time voters, as per media reports.

The Haryana assembly election 2024 are scheduled to be contested in a single phase on October 5 from 7am to 6pm and results will be announced in a day or two. The Campaigning by different parties for the polls have concluded yesterday, on October 3, at 6PM. The BJP, Congress, AAP and the JJP-Azad Samaj Party organized their rallies and roadshows on October 3 in their last appeal to as parties put in their final efforts before the election.
