The Public degree and Sanskrit Colleges in Himachal Pradesh have been directed to adopt nearby government schools. It is a part of a new initiative by the state government.
The goal of this initiaves is to strengthen the resources available to government schools. It would be done by sharing infrastructure and expertise of colleges in their vicinity.
As part of this scheme, Himachal Pradesh’s Higher Education Director, Amarjit Sharma, has asked all public degree and Sanskrit colleges to adopt five to six government schools, or more, nearby. The idea is for these colleges to provide support in terms of human resources, infrastructure, and other facilities, improving access to education for students in these schools.
As per the government, there are 89 government degree colleges and five government Sanskrit colleges in the state. Sharma stated, in addition to colleges participating in it, individual professors at both associate and assistant level are encouraged to adopt school independently as well if they wish.
The college administration and staff are required to contribute in several ways. It includes offering career counselling sessions, sharing knowledge and creating awareness about the functioning of women’s cells and anti-drug squads.
Schools are all set to gain and benefit from this exposure, with laying emphasis on helping students understand the significance of discipline and life skills.
Sharma also laid importance on how college staff would guide students in contributing to society and nation-building, alongside education them about national surveys like National achievement Survey (NAS) and PARAKH , which assess performance of student in schools.
Various colleges have already taken efforts to implement the initiative, signalling strong support for the government’s plan to boost connections between schools and higher education institutions.
Strengthening the ties between schools and higher education institutions offers numerous advantages for both students and institutions. Students can benefit from improved academic preparation, informed career choices, enhanced social and emotional development, and increased access to resources. By collaborations, the two can offer students with insightful experience.
