The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) aims to complete a set of critical projects this year. The projects include basic psychological assessment test for the selection of Agniveers and Armed forces and developing directed energy weapon statutory status to certification bodies under it.
Officials mentioned the basic assessment test being developed will aim at the psychological evaluation of Agniveers selected by the Army, Navy and the Indian Air Force.
It is expected to be adopted by the Armed Forces this year itself as soon as the DRDO is ready with it.
Psychological Evaluation for the Agniveers; The goal of the test is to evaluate the mental fitness of recruits. It is expected to be adopted by the forces in the later part of the year. Presently, the recruitment process for Agniveers involves educational qualifications, physical tests and medical assessments however it lacks psychological evaluation, the report mentioned.
And for the armed forces and weapon system; It involves the Final Operational Clearance for the Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system for the Indian Air Force (IAF), which is called as "Netra". These platforms are built to detect and track enemy aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), aiding in threat assessment and interception. The IAF at present is operating two AEW&C systems that have already received Initial Operational Clearance.
The Agnipath scheme is a new recruitment plan for the Indian Armed Forces that was introduced in June 2022. Under this scheme, soldiers, known as Agniveers, serve for a fixed term of four years, followed by a six-month training period. After the four-year tenure, only a select few Agniveers are retained for regular service. The remaining Agniveers receive a lump sum amount at the end of their service, along with other benefits such as health insurance and skill development training
With the inclusion of psychology test, the assessment will become further effective and beneficial in recruitment process.
The test is designed to evaluate the mental fitness of Agniveers selected by the Army, Navy, and Indian Air Force.
The test is expected to be adopted this year as soon as DRDO completes its development.
The current process involves educational qualifications, physical tests, and medical assessments.
FOC will certify the system's readiness for operational deployment in the Indian Air Force.
The test will make the assessment more effective and beneficial by evaluating the mental fitness of recruits.
