The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced a retest for CUET UG candidates from July 15 to 19 for valid grievances regarding the exam's conduct. The announcement was made on Sunday, alongside the release of the undergraduate entrance exam answer key. Candidates have until 6 pm on July 9 to challenge the answer key.

An NTA official mentioned that the agency is addressing public grievances received by June 30. If found genuine, affected candidates will have their exams redone at selected centers between July 15 and 19. While NTA officials did not specify the grievances, candidates have reported issues like time loss and technical difficulties.

This year, over 13.4 lakh candidates registered for the CUET, aimed at admission to undergraduate programs in 261 universities. Challenges to the answer key will be reviewed by a panel of subject experts, and the results will be based on the revised final answer key.

The delay in CUET-UG results comes amid controversies over irregularities in exams like NEET and NET. This year, the CUET-UG was conducted nationwide in a hybrid mode, but the Delhi exam was canceled and rescheduled due to logistical issues.

The NTA previously announced that the CUET-UG would be completed in seven days, with no score normalization, as all exams would be in a single shift. Exams for 15 subjects were pen-and-paper, while 48 subjects were computer-based.

The first edition in 2022 faced technical issues, requiring score normalization due to multiple shifts. Allegations of irregularities in NEET and NET exams led to the replacement of NTA Director General Subodh Singh and the establishment of a high-level panel, led by former ISRO chief R Radhakrishnan, to ensure transparent and fair exams. The NEET exam is under investigation for alleged paper leaks, and the UGC NET was canceled due to compromised integrity, both being investigated by the CBI.
