NTA released Tie-Breaking Rules for JEE Mains 2025

NTA has released an updated tie breaking rules for rewarding candidates with identical scores. In the revised system, the age of the candidate and the application number will no longer influence ranking decisions.

NTA has released an updated tie breaking rules for rewarding candidates with identical scores. In the revised system, the age of the candidate and the application number will no longer influence ranking decisions.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared that the JEE Main 2025 session 1 will be conducted in January and session 2 will be held in April. Interested candidates can register themselves for session 1 by November 22 till 9 pm, whereas the application can pe paid till 11: 50 of the same day.

As per the official notification, "For appearing in the JEE (Main) - 2025, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class XII / equivalent examination in 2023 and 2024 or appearing in 2025 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) - 2025 examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfil the age criteria of the Institute(s) to which they are desirous of taking admission."

JEE MAIN – Tie-Breaking rules

For JEE Main 2025, if candidates have same total NTA scores, ties will be broken using the following criteria:

  1. The candidate with the higher NTA score in Mathematics.

  2. The candidate with the higher NTA score in Physics.

  3. The candidate with the higher NTA score in Chemistry.

  4. The candidate with a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers across all subjects.

  5. The candidate with a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers across in Mathematics.

  6. The candidate with a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers across all Physics.

  7. The candidate with a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers across all Chemistry.

If ties still remain after these criteria, the candidates will be given the same rank.
