NMC issues guidelines for introducing PG courses, and the colleges must comply with the guidelines and submit a required fee amount.

In the latest update, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued guidelines for medical colleges who plan to introduce new postgraduate qualifications.
The institutions must consult the relevant board and follow a process, which also includes submitting the fees as required.

The medical colleges seeking to begin with new MD/MS/DM/MCh,PDF,PDCC or six year DM/MCh programmes must take consultation from the related board. The board shall than provide a response, with apt response the college can further proceed with submitting their formal proposal and required fees.

As per the National Medical Commission (Recognition of the medical qualification) Regulations,2023 the medical colleges who are offering undergraduate, postgraduate or super speciality qualifications can apply to the respective board for the inclusion of any new qualification which is not yet listed.

The medical institutions that are willing to offer a new PG medical qualification which are not included in the Annexures one to sixth of the post graduate medical education regulations-3023 are required to submit an application. The form for commencing a new qualification the colleges can find the application on the NMC website.

The application has to include the following annexures:
a) Standard Assessment Form Part A
The institutional information of all the Post graduate speciality.
b) Standard Assessment Form Part B-Relevant for the parent speciality

The application is to be submitted with a fee of Rs 2,50,000 in addition to 18 percent GST per qualification to the Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB). The applications which will lack the proper formatting or fee shall not be considered.

The colleges who plan to introduce new courses must comply with the guidelines issued by NMC and pay the fee mentioned for approval.
