NIT-Surathkal: NIRF standings from last five years

It has achieved 17th place with a score of 64.27 in this year's rankings. The institute also dropped from 38 to 46th place overall in the standings this year.

For 2024, the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NIT-K), formerly known as Surathkal, had a drop in its National Institution Framework Category (NIRF) rating. It has achieved 17th place with a score of 64.27 in this year's rankings. The institute dropped from 38 to 46th place overall in the standings this year.

It is now ranked forty-two in the research category, down one spot from before. In 2023, NITK's performance fell short in other NIRF categories as well. The Institute fell to the 12th slot in the engineering category in 2022 after ranking in the top 10. Initially established as the Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) in 1960, the school underwent an upgrading in 2002 and became known as the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NIT-K). NITK was not ranked in the Times Higher Education Rankings or the QS World University Rankings for 2024.

Furthermore, it dropped to number 41 in the research rating. Twice in the previous five years has the Institute been able to claim its position in the research category. When it came to NIRF, it was ranked 40 in 2021, not ranked in 2022, and managed to secure 41 in 2023. The Institute lost more than ten points in its ranking. Its results also decreased, going from 56.74 in 2022 to 55.47 in 2023, a decrease of 1.27 points. As of 2024, the Institute's TLR stands at 74.65, with 49.04 RPC, 78.44 GO, 62.31 OI, and 52.37 perception following suit.

Since its inspection, the Institute has offered a variety of courses in areas such as chemical engineering, chemistry, civil engineering, computer science and engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, information technology, electronics and communication engineering, and mathematical and computational sciences. It also offers specialized courses in these areas.
