The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the NEET-UG 2024 retest results on Monday, July 1. The retest was offered to 1,563 candidates who were given grace marks for claimed time loss during the main exam on May 5, 2024.

Following a major controversy over the grace marks, the NTA allowed affected candidates to retake the exam. The retest took place on June 23 across seven centers, with 813 students participating.

After the retest, provisional answer keys scanned OMR sheets, and recorded responses for the 813 participants were made available for challenge on June 28. The final answer keys were published on the NTA website after an expert review of the challenges.

The retest decision was prompted by concerns that the grace marks inflated scores, with several candidates from the same center scoring a perfect 720. The NTA faced allegations of irregularities in the medical entrance exam.

The announcement includes revised results for the 1,563 candidates and an updated rank list for all NEET-UG 2024 applicants. Results can be accessed on the NTA website using roll number and date of birth.

This development advances the NEET-UG 2024 admissions process, with counseling set to begin on July 6. Over 13 lakh candidates out of approximately 25 lakh qualified this year, competing for about 1.8 lakh MBBS/dental seats.

Meanwhile, the CBI is investigating alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam, with a case of cheating and criminal conspiracy filed.

Several arrests have been made, and a preliminary CBI investigation revealed that the accused asked candidates willing to use illegal means to achieve high scores to choose a private school in Gujarat's Godhra as their exam center.
