The NEET UG 2024 results are out! You can check them on the official NTA website https://www.nta.ac.in/. Over half of the test takers passed this year. There were 67 top scorers, including 14 girls.
A senior NTA official said to PTI. "Sixty-seven candidates scored the same 99.997129 percentile score, therefore, they shared the all-India rank one. The merit list will be prepared using a tie-breaking formula with those getting higher marks or percentile scores in Biology will be given preference followed by Chemistry and Physics".
The official also added, "Subsequently, candidates with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the test, or Biology, followed by Chemistry and Physics, will be given preference".
Over 24 lakh students took the exam. The pass rate stayed around 56 percent. The top scorers came from Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. The exam is offered in 13 languages. This year, the qualifying marks increased for all categories.
The NTA said to PTI. "The Result of NEET (UG) - 2024 has been declared based on the qualifying criteria prescribed by the National Medical Commission and Dental Council of India and also based on the information submitted by the candidates in their online application forms”.
Uttar Pradesh recorded the most qualified candidates (11,65,047) among the states, followed by Rajasthan (1,21,240), Maharashtra (1,42,665), and Tamil Nadu (89,426).
In the meantime, the NTA has analysed post-exam data in order to identify instances of Unfair Means (UFM).
The agency said, "Action on UFM cases is taken as per extant rules, which include cancellation of candidature and debarment from future examinations”.
The NTA said, "The qualified candidates may please note that they have to further complete the formalities with the respective Counselling Authorities viz DGHS, Medical Education Directorates of States, etc. for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses".
There wasn't just one top scorer! 67 students, mostly from Rajasthan, shared the first place with the same score.

A little over half (around 56%) of the students who took the exam passed this year.
Uttar Pradesh had the most qualifiers, followed by Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.
They need to complete additional formalities with counselling authorities for admission to MBBS/BDS programs.
