An exceptionally high percentage of candidates received a perfect score of 720/720, which attracted rapid attention to the results. All India Rank 1 was achieved by 67 examinees, who together took the top rank in the country this year. Candidates receiving scores of 718 or 719 raised concerns since some claimed they were unrealistic given the format of the test.

 Confusion in results

The NTA clarified the inconsistency in the NEET UG 2024 results on Saturday, indicating that some candidates had scores of 718 and 719. The NTA justified the awarding of compensatory marks by forming an expert group to resolve objections regarding inadequate time allotment. This committee adjusted the compensation based on its assessment of the candidates' time losses and response times.

Marking Schemes

There are 180 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) on the NEET UG, covering four different topics: physics, chemistry, zoology, and botany. Every subject will have a maximum of 45 questions examined. For 180 MCQs, students have three hours and twenty minutes to finish the exam.

Correct answers or the best answers (plus four) receive four points. A point (-1) is deducted for each incorrect response. Questions that receive no answer are assigned a zero. If there are multiple viable solutions, those who marked one or more of the correct answers will receive four marks (+4). If every choice is correct, each attempt is awarded four points (+4).

FAQ

While achieving a score of 718 or 719 out of 720 in the NEET exam is theoretically possible, it is exceptionally challenging due to the rigorous nature of the examination.

Several factors contribute to achieving a high score in the NEET exam, including a comprehensive understanding of the syllabus, effective time management during the exam, thorough revision of key concepts, and regular practice of previous years' question papers and mock tests.

Candidates can prepare effectively for the NEET exam by following a structured study plan that covers all topics outlined in the syllabus. It is essential to allocate sufficient time for each subject, focus on understanding concepts rather than rote memorization, and regularly assess progress through self-assessment tests and mock exams.

To manage time effectively during the NEET exam, candidates should familiarize themselves with the exam pattern and practice solving questions within the stipulated time frame. It is advisable to allocate a specific amount of time to each section based on its weightage and difficulty level.

NEET scores are calculated based on the number of correct responses in the exam. Each correct answer earns the candidate four marks, while one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. The total score is then calculated based on the number of correct responses.
