Meghalaya Education Minister Announces two SSLC exams for class 10
Beginning in 2025, MBOSE will administer two SSLC board examinations annually. The first exam is scheduled for February or early March, and the second exam, which will be in May, will give students who fail all or some of their subjects the opportunity to retake it in a span of one to two months.
Meghalaya Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma stated the state school education board will be conducting two class 10 examinations from next year. According to Sangma, two Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (SSLC) exams would be administered by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) in 2025.
He noted that early this month, the state cabinet approved the request to change the MBOSE Regulation for the 2011 Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination.The decision to have two SSLC exams is intended to give students who failed the MBOSE board test another opportunity.

The education minister stated that by shortening the time between attempts, this action is intended to benefit students and is consistent with the National Education Policy (NEP) that is now being implemented. The cabinet also decided to eliminate the "best of five papers" option for the 2026–2027 academic year. This means that all students in that year will need to pass the board exam in all six disciplines.
The cabinet also acknowledged the Service Rules for the Meghalaya Public School Service Rules, the Meghalaya Subordinate Water Resources Engineering Service Rules, 2024 and the Farmers Empowerment Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
MBOSE will conduct two SSLC board exams annually starting in 2025.
