On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, to commemorate the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti (GSDS) in partnership with MyGov has organized a creative competition. They are hosting an essay writing competition commencing from October 1,2024 to October 31,2024.

This contest is open to all Indian citizens. The participants can submit their entry in both English and Hindi. Through this contest the participants will get an opportunity to reflect on Gandhi’s life and gain insights about his philosophies in modern contexts.

There are over 20 themes being offered, the participants can choose among the variety of themes which focus one exploring Gandhi’s ideas and their relevance in today’s time. Some of the themes are mentioned below

-Gandhi’s Vision of Non-violence in the modern world

-Mahatma Gandhi and Climate Change: Lessons for today

-Gandhi and Youth Empowerment

-Gandhi’s approach to conflict resolution: Its relevance to International Relations today.

-Gandhian Economics in the age of consumerism

-Digital Satyagraha: Applying Gandhi’s tactics in the age of social media

-Examining how non-violence resistance could be conducted in the digital era using social media platforms

-Gandhi’s lessons on ethical leadership for today’s leaders.

 

PRIZES AND GUIDELINES

-The top three winners in both categories; English and Hindi will be awarded with Gandhian Books.

-Participants are allowed to submit one entry each only

-The entries which shall contain political statements or found violating copyright laws will be immediately disqualified.

- It is mandatory to ensure the MyGov profile is up-to-date, since the information will be used for further communication.

The essay contest is a commendable opportunity for people across all ages to gain insights about Mahatma Gandhi’s values and teachings. Whether one is a student, a working professional or retiree, anyone. They’ll get a chance to reflect upon Gandhi’s teachings and connect it to real world.
