Last five year's NIRF ranking of NIT Raipur

The National Institute of Technology, Raipur, which was established in 1963, has at last been included in the architecture category. The institute is placed 36th out of 40 in NIRF 2024, however it has not been ranked in the category in the previous five years.

NIT Raipur scored 71 in NIRF ranking, compared to 70 in 2023 in the engineering category. When comparing the institute's 2023 ranking to the NIRF 2022 ranking, five spots were lost. However, NIT Raipur and IIT Bhilai are the only engineering schools in Chhattisgarh to even place in the top 100 in the NIRF ranking 2023 for the engineering category. In the same category, NIT Raipur achieved a superior ranking of 11 as opposed to IIT Bhilai's 81 ranks.

The Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai also came in at number 73 in NIRF 2024. In the QS World University Ranking 2025 and the Time Higher Education Ranking 2024 (THE), NIT Raipur and IIT Bhilai were both unable to claim a spot.

With 57.83 points in teaching, learning, and resources (TRL), 40.80 points in research and professional practice (RPC), 65.98 points in graduation outcomes (GO), 56.96 points in outreach and inclusivity (OI), and 3.91 points in perception (PR) out of a possible 100, NIT Raipur qualified for the NIRF 2024 engineering category as number 70.

Let’s also look at the scores of IIT Bilhai in all other categories: TRL, GO, OI, and PR. In these areas, IIT Bilhai received scores of 76.71, 19.93, 65.71, and 7.48, in that order. While NIT Raipur and IIT Bilhai face challenges in global rankings, both institutes continue to secure notable positions in national rankings, maintaining their status as top engineering institutions in Chhattisgarh.
