Authorities here announced on Monday that all schools up to senior secondary level will have a 10-day summer break starting on July 8 due to the rising heat in the Kashmir valley. The Education Department issued the directive to this effect late on Sunday, according to the officials.

"From July 8, 2024, to July 17, 2024, all government and recognized private schools in the Kashmir Division will observe summer vacations." Students may access online assistance, if needed, according to the directive.

The website of the Indian Meteorological Department reports that this summer's temperatures in the Kashmir valley have been higher than normal.

The IMD reported that on Sunday, the temperature reached 32.7 degrees Celsius, 3.1 degrees above the season's average. It also stated that last night's minimum temperature of 21.8 degrees Celsius was 4.5 degrees warmer than average for this time of year.

According to rumors, the JKBoSE is expected to release the class 11 results this week.
