The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025's Section B no longer includes optional questions, according to the National Testing Agency (NTA). Candidates will not be able to select just five of the ten questions in section B of the JEE Main test in 2025. The modification will affect JEE Main 2025 papers 1 (BE or BTech), 2A (BArch), and 2B (BPlanning), according to NTA.

The optional part was implemented until 2024 as a stopgap measure to address the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. "Since the UN World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the COVID-19 to be an end of public health emergency on May 5, 2023, it has been decided to discontinue the optional selection of questions," said an NTA statement in this regard.

There would be no options for selection in JEE (Main) 2025 for Paper 1 (B.E./B. Tech), Paper 2 A (B Arch), and Paper 2 B (B Planning), and Section B would revert to its original format, with only five (five) questions per subject.

"With regard to the above-mentioned modification, the information bulletin of JEE (Main)-2025 will provide the detailed examination pattern," it continued. According to the NTA letter announcing the exam format change, the online JEE Main 2025 application form registration procedure "will be starting in due course of time." jeemain.nta.nic.in is the official JEE Main 2025 website.

The revised exam format for JEE Main 2025 aligns with pre-pandemic norms, removing the flexibility of optional questions. Aspiring candidates are encouraged to stay updated by regularly checking the official JEE Main website for further details on the exam pattern and registration process.
