The course will comprise the significance of Himalayan cryosphere and emphasizing about the climate change. The students gain insight about the creation of new lacier lakes, associated with Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF) and the impact about peramost melting.

The course will be completed on online based through ISRO’S e-class platform which will include four sessions:

  1. Geological hazards overview (11:00-11:30)

  2. Climate change and the cryosphere (11:35-12:20)

  3. High mountain hazards in Himalayas (14:15-15:00)

  4. Remote sensing for crysopheric hazards (15:05-15:50)

Registrations options are available for students to sign up individually or through their respective nodal centres. For those who registered through nodal centres needs an approval from the centre coordinator and for individual registrations are done automatically. It is necessary for all the students to attend at least 70 percent of each session to be eligible for a certificate, which can be downloaded through the ISRO Learning Management System (LMS).

The ISRO one day workshop is projected to enhance students understanding of Himalayan cryospheric hazards.  The course will empower early-career researchers and students to venture into new fields of study and potential career opportunities in climate science and space exploration.
