Delhi's Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IP University) has garnered significant recognition by receiving the 'Rising Star' award from QS World Ranking. Mr. Ben Sowter, Senior Vice President of QS, presented this accolade at the QS EduData Summit 2024 in Washington D.C., underscoring the university's notable progress among Indian institutions in the past year. The announcement coincided with the unveiling of the QS World University Rankings 2025 on June 4, 2024.
IP University, which debuted in the QS rankings last year in the 1401+ category, has made a remarkable leap to the 1001-1200 category in the QS Rankings 2025. This advancement marks the most significant improvement among Indian institutions, with IP University standing out as the sole university from the Government of NCT of Delhi included in the QS Rankings 2025.
Sh. Vinay Kumar Saxena, Chancellor of the University and Lt. Governor of Delhi, extended his congratulations to Vice-Chancellor Professor (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, along with the faculty, staff, and students, for this remarkable achievement.
Professor Verma highlighted that only 46 Indian universities made it to the QS rankings this year. He detailed the university's achievements, pointing out its inclusion among the top 500 global institutions for citations per faculty. In the 2024 edition, the university surpassed 6.5 percent of globally ranked institutions by QS; this year, that figure has surged to 33.4 percent.
IP University is also making significant strides in academic and employer reputation, ranking at the 601+ level in the QS Rankings 2025. Looking forward, Professor Verma shared his vision for expanding the university's global presence by attracting more international faculty and students. He also emphasized that IP University is among the few in the country to receive an A++ rating from NAAC, in addition to its high position in the QS rankings.
