IIT Madras launches skill based courses

IIT Madras has launched six skill-based courses in collaboration with SWAYAM experts

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has announced six new skill-based courses, developed by institute experts. The courses are launched in collaboration with SWAYAM plus and IITM Parvartak Technologies.
The beneficial thing if the course js , the industry has expressed interest in recruiting students from these programmes.

Following is the list of courses launched
Advanced Electronic Manufacturing
CNC Machining and Fundamentals
Comprehensive Electronics
Embedded System
Digital Manufacturing Practice
Smart Manufacturing and Fundamentals

SWAYAM Plus is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India and IIT Madras, launched it aligning with National Education Policy’s (NEP 2020). The focus is on promoting and encouraging employability-focused, skilling courses. It goals to build employable skills among graduates across chosen sectors critical to India’s growth. The aim is also to align industry skills with academic courses, thereby bridging the gap.

Speaking on the theme Skilling the next generation of learners in a digital first ecosystem - The NEP perspective’, the additional secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Sunil Kumar Barnwal, talked about  “It is not just a document to state what the Government of India is going to do but a vision document on what the country wants to achieve. So, it is not just the Government but every institution involved in academics and research are part of this journey. A student can think of completing his degree before the 3 or 4 years if he can get the required credits. We all know that the pillars of NEP. We understand that the focus is not only the institute but the learner who is the focus of the policy. The campus itself can go to all other places and deliver courses online and many other platforms. This possibility has come because we started thinking from the ‘learning’ and ‘learners’ point of view.”
