A new initiative called "IITM School Connect" was introduced today by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. To address this, the certificate programs in "Electronic Systems" and "Data Science and Artificial Intelligence" have been introduced. Students who are interested in enrolling in the course at IIT Madras can do so by visiting the official website, school-connect.study.iitm.ac.in.

These certification programs, which last four to eight weeks and are specifically developed for school pupils, are taught by professors from IIT Madras. The classes are designed to give students in classes 11 and 12 practical work experience, and they will be taught entirely online. October 21, 2024 is when the next round of these entry level programs will start. This batch's registration period began on September 16 and will end on October 4. Students who meet the requirements will receive diplomas from IIT Madras after completing the course.

According to the institute, 50 schools have already cooperated with IITM for this, and the previous batch of pupils profited in excess of 11,000 times. Recorded lecture videos, practical training, in-person contacts, assignments, and computer-based certification evaluation are some of the program's main highlights.

The autonomous construction of remotely controlled robots by schoolchildren is encouraging. In order to extract valuable insights from datasets, students enrolled in the Data Science course have worked on practical projects. According to Prof. Prathap Haridoss, Dean of Academic Courses at IIT Madras, "courses like these expose students to a variety of disciplines and help children identify their interests and strengths."
