IIT Kanpur launches cyber security programme

IIT Kanpur launches a cyber security programme , the course will aim at building proactive cybersecurity framework for India.

Taking a step towards enhancing the nation's cybersecurity readiness, C3iHub at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has announced the Cyber Commando Training programme. It is a specialised six-month residential course designed to equip participants with skills in cybersecurity.

This effort is a partnership between the Union Home Ministry and the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) which is under the ministry of home affairs. (MHA)

As a part of this Cyber Commando Training Programme, a specialised unit of trained cyber commandos will be established within the states and union Territories (UTs) and Central Police organizations (CPOs) to aim at the growing threats for the nation's cybersecurity landscape.
These commands will help the states and UTS and central agencies in safeguarding the digital space.

At the launch , Professor Amalendu Chandra , acting director of IIT Kanpur, mentioned about the significance of the initiative in strengthen the nation's cybersecurity, he said , "The Cyber Commando Training Programme is a crucial step in India's efforts to protect its digital infrastructure. The collaboration between C3iHub, I4C, and the Union Home Ministry reflects our shared commitment to developing a highly skilled workforce capable of responding to the growing sophistication of cyber threats facing the country."

Professor Sandeep K Shukla, Programme Director of C3iHub at IIT Kanpur, showed his delight for hosting the program, he said , "This training programme is not just about imparting knowledge; it is about building a resilient and proactive cybersecurity framework for India. These professionals will serve in critical roles, from conducting security assessments to responding to cyber incidents, ensuring that our institutions are well-protected."

Under this programme, the participants will get comprehensive hands-on training in different aspects of cybersecurity. It will help them equip with complex cyber threats implement robust defence mechanisms across multiple sectors and manage security incidents.
