IIT Hyderabad grants more than a thousand degrees

As part of "IITH’s Historical Tradition of getting connected to the Culture of the State of Telangana," IIT Hyderabad gave graduates this year specially made Pochampalli stoles.

At the 13th convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H), which took place on Saturday, 1090 students received 1103 degrees along with four gold and 38 silver medals.

IIT Hyderabad has reached the 1,000 graduate threshold for the first time. According to an official statement from the institute, "It is the highest number of graduates in a year so far, not only at IITH but possibly at any second-generation IIT in India." The inaugural class of our BTech in Biomedical Engineering, MTech in Transportation Engineering, Semiconductor Materials and Devices, and Heritage Science and Technology (online) programs is also included in this figure. In addition to online multidisciplinary MTech courses in EV Technology, Ophthalmic Engineering, and Integrated Circuits and Microsystems Packaging, a Master of Arts in Health, Gender, and Society.

A big congratulations to all the graduates! The ceremony included students from many programs, including BTech, BDes, MA, MSc, MDes, MTech, PhD, and online programs. There were even some students who earned multiple degrees at once.

 

Winners of medals

Four students received gold awards from IIT Hyderabad. Mamidipaka Pragna, who studied electrical engineering, received the President of India Gold Medal for having the highest cumulative CGPA among her peers in the BTech program (Class of 2024). The Institute Gold Medal was given to Tanmoy Dutta of the Physics Department for earning the highest CGPA in the MSc/MA program. The Institute Gold Medal was given to Balaji G R of the Department of Civil Engineering for having the highest cumulative CGPA in the MTech/MDes program. The Institute Gold Medal for Excellence in Academics and Co-Curricular Activities (Class of 2024) was given to Anirudh Srinivasan of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

The department's top performers 11 BTech, 01 BDes, 03 MSc, 20 MTech, 01 MA, and 02 MDes were given a total of 38 silver medals.
