IIT Guwahati and Airbus collaborates to develop aviation and logistics sector

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati partners with Airbus Private limited. The announcement comes post the discussions with the officials from the Assam Government’s transport, skill and industries department. It is a important step towards advancing aviation and logistics education in Assam, the goal is to enhance the socio-economic landscape of the region.

A Non-disclosure agreement (NDA) has been signed between Prof. Devendra Jalihal , the director of IIT Guwahati and Remi Maillard , the president and managing director Airbus India Private Limited.

The official signing of agreement was held on September 6,2024 in IIT Guwahati. It was signed under the presence of Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief Minister of Assam. Other honoured guests included of Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam. Other dignitaries included Dr S Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary, Government of Assam; Ashutosh Agrawal, Head, Aftermarket Strategy & Business Development, and Sumeet Singh Manglotra,

On the occasion of signing the IIT Director said” Professor Devendra Jalihal, Director, IIT Guwahati, said, “We are thrilled to embark on this transformative partnership with Airbus, which aligns with our vision for advanced education in aviation and logistics and addresses the pressing need for skilled professionals in these critical sectors. We are grateful to Chief Minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, for their invaluable support and presence today. “he further emphasized on the benefits of the partnership.

While Suraj Chettri, the VP and Heas of HR at Airbus India and south Asia and head of Site at Airbus India Private limited, Bangalore added ” "To drive the exponential growth of the aviation industry, both India and the world need large-scale, skilled human resources. This is why we are committed to building strong partnerships with academia, and this collaboration is a prime example of that commitment. We will continue to invest in developing a skilled workforce in India, working closely with the Government of India and various state governments to unlock the full potential of the Indian aviation sector. 

The partnership aims to foster innovation and employment with development in the aviation and logistics sector.
