The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur is all set to commence with the artificial intelligence (AI) in classrooms. The goal of introducing AI is to develop new ways for students to learn and gather knowledge. It was announced on the foundation day of the institute on September 23,2024, Monday. It marked a decade for excellence in management education.
Addressing the event, Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, the director of IIM Sambalpur mentioned the importance of AI, how it will reshape the learning environment.
"With AI, the role of teachers will shift from mere teaching to creating and facilitating learning experiences," he stated. This strategic move aims to enhance the quality of education and engage students in a more dynamic way.

Since beginning the institute has always laid emphasis in action-oriented research and experiential learning. IIM Sambalpur has seen a growth, from 49MBA students in 2015, raising numbers to 320 students. Interestingly, 75% constitute of female students.

In addition, the function featured various leaders from industry. The list includes Uday A Kaole, CMD of MCL, who appreciated the institute’s vibrancy and innovative spirit.

Moreover, Prof. Jaiswal talked about plans for a Women's Empowerment Summit in February, which shall aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Along with this, the institute has plans to launch three centres of Excellence and diversify it's MBA programme. They'll align with National Education Policy's goal on international accreditations.

Interestingly, the even coincided with the establishment of Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp , which had been scheduled from September 23 to September 27,2024. The bootcamp is endorsed by the Prime Minister, it aims to develop entrepreneurial skills among student innovators across the nation.

The day was filled with the insights from significant speakers like Nishita Baliarsingh, Co-founder and CEO of Nexus Power, who emphasised the importance of consistent effort and honesty. While, Dr Anurag Batra, the Guest of Honour, became attendees of the value of optimism and sustainability
