IGNOU unveils new Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health (PGDMH)

The Discipline of Psychology at Indira Gandhi National Open University's School of Social Sciences (SOSS) is now offering a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health (PGDMH). This program aims to provide a robust foundation in mental health, addressing a wide array of psychological issues and concerns. Key Highlights 

 - Applicants must hold a master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Nursing, or be medical graduates in Allopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy, Yoga & Naturopathy, or possess a Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery (BDS) to be eligible for the PGDMH program.

 - Admissions are open twice a year, in July and January, for eligible candidates.

 - The total course fee is Rs 9000, with an additional registration fee of Rs 300.

 - The PGDMH program spans one year.

The PGDMH program focuses on building the capacity of professionals in mental and physical healthcare, enabling them to effectively address community mental health needs. The flexible, open, and distance learning format allows students to progress at their own pace. The curriculum covers various aspects of mental health, including fundamentals, disorders, special areas, services, and includes an internship component.

The program is supported by several regional study centres, including two each in Bangalore, Bhopal, and Nagpur, and one each in Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Ranchi, Noida, Jabalpur, Varanasi, and Patna, providing flexible learning opportunities for students.
