The health and wellness firm Herbalife and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will award 1,000 scholarships to students enrolled in the IIT Madras BS Degree in Data Science and Applications foundational program.
Supporting underprivileged students is the goal of the merit-cum-means scholarship for the IIT Madras BS Degree in Data Science and Applications, which also guarantees that 50% of the scholarships are allocated to female students. An official announcement from IIT Madras said, "This commitment strengthens the initiative's dedication to promoting gender equality and encouraging female representation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields."
This programme is in line with IITM's mission of "IIT Madras for All," which aims to provide top-notch education to students from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds throughout India.
We at IIT Madras, which has more than 11,000 students on campus, always work to offer as many people as we can a varied, high-quality education, but we are aware that real reach necessitates cooperation outside of our campus. In ways that would not be feasible otherwise, our collaboration with corporations through philanthropy and Corporate Social Responsibility allows us to support research, offer scholarships, and increase our educational influence. Professor Ashwin Mahalingam, Dean of Alumni and Corporate Relations at IITM, stated, "We are immensely appreciative of Herbalife's assistance in furthering these initiatives and bringing about significant change."
This collaboration between IIT Madras and Herbalife is a worthwhile endeavor that aims to increase students from underprivileged backgrounds' access to data science education.
