The University of Delhi has scheduled student union elections for the session 2024-25 for September 27,2024. Amidst the campaign season, the Delhi University (DU) Chief Election Officer issued a notice on September 23,2024. It is against the defacement of the university campus walls, mentioned that strict action would be taken against those candidates whose names were found on posters stuck on walls.
The DUSU polls is three days away, the university has asked the candidates to do away with their banners and posters within the university premises within 24 hours.
Defacement is visible on DU walls, pillars, roads, vehicles, bus stops, canteens and in fact the metro station as well.
The circular states ,“The DUSU election office is keeping a close watch over the display of banners, posters and the number of vehicles used in rallies and other modes of canvassing by different candidates. These should be strictly within the limits mentioned in the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations,”.
As per the official notice, the nomination must be submitted in a selected box which will be placed in the office of the Chief Election Officer, DUSU Elections 2024-25, the timings will be from 10:00AM to 5:00PM on any working day.
The voting procedure will be conducted in two phases. So, it will be easier to accommodate with different class schedules, the timings are from 8:30AM to 1:00PM for daytime classes and in other phase from 3:00PM to 7:00PM for evening classes.
In the previous month, the University of Delhi appointed Satyapal Singh as the Chief Election officer to organize students’ union polls for the year 2024-25. The university has appointed a three-member committee to conduct the 2024-2025 elections for DUSU. Professor Raj Kishore Sharma has been appointed as the chief returning officer whereas Rajesh Singh has been appointed as the returning officer. The returning officer is from the Department of Chemistry and returning officer is a librarian.
This year the elections are scheduled on September 27, 2024.Violation of the guidelines mentioned in the notice can lead to the disqualification of the candidates.

Strict action will be taken against candidates whose names appear on defaced posters.
Candidates must remove their banners and posters within 24 hours of the notice.
Voting will occur from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Satyapal Singh has been appointed as the Chief Election Officer for the elections.
